Katrina Kaif' Barbie at Bloomingdale in New York

Katrina Kaif' Barbie at Bloomingdale in New York

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, June 1, 2009 - 18:51 IST

Katrina Kaif
They say 'For every Taj Mahal, there's a Qutub Minar, and for every India Gate, there's a Gateway of India'. Likewise, for every Madam Tussauds museum, there's a Bloomingdale. If the name doesn't register (read 'ring a bell') in your mind, then, trust us that it soon will. For starters, Bloomingdale is the official domain for the world famous Barbie Doll and that it even has a museum dedicated to the same!

And the desi touch to this videsi story is that our very own Katrina Kaif, who, after being recently chosen as the 'Indian face' of Barbie Doll' will now be seen moulded into Barbie, the world's famous doll. An excited Katrina said that the customized Barbie that's being made for the American museum will just be like her. With this, Kats joins the likes of international celebrities like Beyonce Knowles and Diana Ross, no less.

With so much going for this young actress, one wonders what she would be honoured with next. Any guesses?

Amrita Rao

I've never read a Playboy magazine: Amrita Rao

I`ve never read a Playboy magazine: Amrita RaoBy Devansh Patel

"Now that you've dated me, you've got the license to ask me what you want and how you want. "

You can't really think two ways about this sentence, can you? Yes, these were the exact words delivered by Amrita Rao just before we went into her intimate rendezvous. It was time for the beautiful to be bold.

You could see her getting a bit anxious, you could see her trying to get away with questions and you could see it all in her eyes. 'Should I or shouldn't I' was no more a question. There were no two ways about it this time. It was time she entered the real world.

Intimate talks involve stepping over people's usual boundaries. It takes us out of familiar territory in terms of how we relate to each other. It necessitates breaking the usual rules. Miss Beautiful Rao did exactly that. Devansh Patel gets you Amrita Rao's twelve levels of Intimacy. Read on to discover the never before known side of Amrita Rao.. .

Monsoon
"For me, monsoon is the perfect romantic season. It makes everything look so beautiful. This is the way I perceive it. They say that when you are in love, the same things around you look different. Similarly, the rain gives that extra life, that lustre, that green comes out, everything looks so freshly washed, there is freshness around and it's beautiful. You feel very vibrant. "

Getting Cosy
"I do want to get cosy with someone special. But I don't have a boyfriend. I do so many romantic scenes with different actors all the time that I kind of experience the warmth, the hug and that cosiness. That's what happens when you are an actress. You tend to experience emotions that you otherwise haven't faced. It could also be very drastic or not so good or which brings tears to your eyes. "

Being Sensual
"For me, to be sensual is to be attractive. Now that attractiveness can come from anything. It could be from my personality, my man, the fragrance of his cologne or may be the beauty spot on his face or mine; it could be the music that's adding the value to the moment. Sensuality is pure attraction and nothing else. Just the urge to be pampered physically is also being sensual. "

Onscreen Kissing
"I don't believe in the phrase, 'If the role demands'. All these things are decided in advance, much before you get into the commitment of your role and the film you're going to do. There are whole lot of factors that decide my kissing scene or whether I wear a bikini in the film. It depends on what company I am with, like the banner, the director, the co-star, the music, who's styling me, etc. "

Perfect Man
"The most attractive thing in a man is his voice because I think that most romantic relationships start off on the phone. That's the time you are talking and hearing the voice on the other side that is attracting you towards him. You have to live with that sound and voice for your whole life. I'd like my perfect man to give me a perfect back massage. That'll be sensuous, I'm sure because it does affect all your senses. "

Sex
"I remember the first time I heard about 'Sex' was while I was in school. We used to have sex education classes. It was in a convent school. I was too shy to talk about it then or may be didn't really understand the true meaning of the word. So I was just blank. I would be very shy about discussing such things with my parents or even tell them who my boyfriend is. "

Sex in films
"I am sure that in a good couple of years, sex and nudity will be a part of our films too. Ours is a very shy society and our Hindi Film Industry is just a reflection of that.

About fifteen years ago, Karisma Kapoor danced on a song which went, 'Sexy Sexy Sexy Mujhe Log Bole'. Govinda too had a song which went, 'Meri Pant Bhi Sexy, Meri Shirt Bhi Sexy'. Out of that, Karisma's number created such a stir in the public that the word 'sexy' had to be replaced by 'baby'.

Today a Dev D is being made. The definition of sex and sexy has become more comfortable now. I see Bollywood getting there slowly but surely and it'll be interesting how we do it. "

Sensual films
"I've never seen any of the sensual films like Basic Instinct, Nine And A Half Weeks, etc. Also to add further, I've never seen a porn film. No X-rated films for me. But the one film I remember and can rename as a sensual classic is The Bridges of Madison County. It is the most romantic film I've ever seen. "

Erotica
"I have seen sex scenes in films. Titanic is one of the best films which had sensuality and eroticism shown very subtly. I don't know whether to call it erotic but this is the film that first comes to my mind. "

Hot Photo Shoot
"I would love to do a photo shoot on a couch or on a bed in sensual positions. That'll look so tempting for the guys. Actually, I would love to do a photo shoot with an Indian or a western backless dress. It looks gracious.

I love the backless outfit going deep down and touching your butt. That's where it should end. That's a perfect photo shoot or I would even want to grace it to some red carpet events. "

Books \ Magazines
"I've never read a Playboy magazine because it is said to be a Man's magazine. I don't want to see the sexy ladies in there because I am already sexy (laughs).

Let's get serious here. It may sound strange to you but a good piece of writing seduces me. Sidney Sheldon does that. His book, 'If Tomorrow Comes' did have some erotic moments. I would also love to read the Kamasutra. I haven't yet read it. "

Dreams
"Candles bring out the dreamy side in me. But I wouldn't like to share my intimate dreams with you. I think its better in my mind than it goes in yours. I'd love my boyfriend to take me to Prague. I've been there and it's the most exotic and a monumental place. That's my dream holiday spot. "

Shruti

Shruti is one of the best finds in Bollywood: Chitrashi

Shruti is one of the best finds in Bollywood: ChitrashiBy Devansh Patel

Chitrashi is one of the most envied youngster in Bollywood. Having played hockey with Shah Rukh Khan to sharing screen space with Sanjay Dutt, she is only two films old and yet confident, bold and raring to go. 'Go-getter' is how she is in real life. She is full of attitude which she uses in doing things right and not wrong..

She doesn't stand tall but has a towering personality in the way she acts. When it comes to playing women who are cool, no one does it better than Chitrashi because she has specialized at playing women in a world of men who can keep up just fine. Her latest film Luck might just prove that she is the crush material..

Not where men fall for her, but men who would literally fall on her feet begging for their lives. Devansh Patel caught up with the smallest of the Bollywood actresses who is climbing the ladder of success at a lightning speed. Is she plain lucky? You find out.

What is the meaning of the word Chitrashi?
Actually my mother gave me this name. She is an artist (painter). So it means like an perceptive art, to see and admire the beauty of art and having the power of perceiving. That's what Chitrashi means. I hope you got the perceptive analysis of my name now (laughs).

Is it lucky?
What's unlucky about it? As a matter of fact, it's so unique. I've never met or heard anyone else by this name. So it always makes me stand out and not to forget, it got me lot of fame too. My name is lucky and so am I.

Then shall we say, Chak De Chitrashi or Lucky Chitrashi?
Well, I don't mind both. You can address me as any of the two or whatever you like the most. At the moment, people address me as lucky Chitrashi because of my film Luck. On the streets, people recognize me as Chak De Chitrashi. I've got two first names: Chak De and Lucky, how funny is that? (laughs).

Imran told me that your part was suppose to be played by a guy.
Yes it's true. You won't believe it, but still in the script, Soham hasn't changed it. The screenplay has a man saying the dialogues. So watch out guys! Wherever I find you all, I'll replace you. It was a tough decision taken by Soham and a risky one too. The good thing is that I got to be a part of such an ensemble cast.

I am working with the veterans and the new comers of our industry. That is an experience in itself. People say that I am a tomb boy. I guess, Soham is lucky. He has got both. A guy he had in the script and the girl he was looking for.

You are the youngest among the big heavy weights of Bollywood. How does it feel?
It feels great and challenging of course. But I guess I've always managed to stand out from the crowd. This is not my arrogance or my ego, it is pure talent. Being one of the youngest doesn't mean that the heavy weights will crush me. Being young is to prove that you can stand up to the heavy weights and act as professionally as they can.

I'm working with bigger names yet again and so it's not only me to prove my talent and luck but even my seniors, who has to match up to new talent and new professionalism, the one I posses.

What exactly did Soham tell you before you said 'Yes' for the role?
Almost everything. I was aware of every single detail of the script. But yes, these were his exact words, 'This film will be incomplete without you'. I think that's the best thing any director will tell his actors..

It also doesn't mean that he is buttering me up for the role he wants so desperately, but it shows his confidence and his conviction in me and my talent.

He knows that I will not let him down and I have done exactly that. It's time for my audience's feedback. I also heard that even Ram Gopal Varma liked the way I walk in the theatrical promo..

Imran also mentioned to me that you do speak like how you do on-screen? Does that come easy for you?
(laughs) That's so sweet of him. Not exactly, but yes, bits of it. I'm very bindaas in real life. So it does come very easy to me. I am what I am. I cannot change the way I talk on-screen.

You will always find actors who bring in their off-screen persona to films in some way or the other. It is not forced; it comes naturally to any actor, including me. The good thing is that people find that way I talk in real life more practical and think that it will add on to their film.

What has been the luckiest day of your life?
I think the day when Chak De India got released and in one night we all hockey players became superstars.

Your take on Bollywood's newest entrants - Imran and Shruti?
Oh lovely. Both were really good to me and are good to themselves (laughs). We did spent quite a lot of good time together off screen as well. We partied a lot. I used to have a really good conversation with Imran. I got along with him quite well. Imran has surpassed his previous best.

He is a vulnerable actor and is too natural on-screen. He is like me. The way I am in real life. Shruti is one of the best finds in Bollywood at the moment. She is tall, talented and a treat to watch. A fabulous singer and a dancer.

Do you share a lot of screen space with Sanjay Dutt in Luck?
No. I have only one scene with him. But one thing is for sure, he has got a towering personality. He commands respect.

Do you perform any stunts in the film?
Hell yes. The water & sharks sequences almost took my breath away. You need to see the film to believe it. It had no body double, only sharks, who could rip your body in double (laughs).

Name a few instances from your life where you went unlucky.
I know its going to sound very cliche but I can only remember the lucky ones. I tend to forget unlucky instances. Plus, it's important to know what has worked for you more than what hasn't. I'm lucky that I am acting in Luck but unlucky that I cannot predict the box office fate. I'm lucky that I am talented but unlucky that I may sometimes fall short of my talent.

Morning Walk

Morning Walk

Morning WalkBy Taran Adarsh

Rating: *

From the looks of it, you'd feel that Morning Walk is about senior citizens/septuagenarians, but director Arup Dutta crams the film with so many sub-plots that the film loses focus. It's like starting at Churchgate, but instead of heading towards Virar, you end up at Thane.

Okay, let me explain. Had the director stayed loyal to one story [the senior citizens' concern for each other], it would've been an emotional experience. But the story changes gears pretty often.

In the beginning, you feel that it's a bahu [Divya Dutta] versus father-in-law [Anupam Kher] saga. Later, the young couple [Shayan Munshi, Nargis] start singing songs and the focus shifts to the love story. Towards the end, it's back to the senior citizens and the twist in their lives.

The plight of the senior citizens was beautifully depicted in BAGHBAN, but that was about a married couple. Here' they aren't. And the director could've explored this facet to the fullest. Sadly, he doesn't!

To cut a long story short, this 'Walk' is just not refreshing!

One Morning Walk in Joymohan's [Anupam Kher] life changes it all. After suffering a heart-attack one morning, on his birthday, Joymohan realizes that he needs to spend more time with his family -- son [Rajit Kapoor], daughter-in-law [Divya Dutta] and grand-daughter [Avika Gor].

It is during his 'Morning Walk' that his life changes forever. He meets his once-upon-a-time-student and friend Neelima [Sharmila Tagore], now a mother of two, who carries with her a strange but surreal truth.

Neelima's bright and beautiful daughter Anjali [Nargis] dreams of pursuing her doctorate from the U.S. and is encouraged by her doting mother and boyfriend Ajay [Shayan Munshi], an upcoming singer, who will go to any lengths to put a smile on her face. It's a tale of two families who are so different from one another, yet connected through a special bond.

The problem is, the number of unwanted tracks in the film rob the film of the seriousness. Sure, there're interesting moments, but they're few and far between. The director is handicapped by a poor script, with the end looking incomplete and confusing. Jeet Ganguli's music is soothing and easy on the ears.

Anupam Kher and Sharmila Tagore lend dignity to their respective roles. Rajit Kapoor looks perfect for his part. Divya Dutta does well, but why did the director make her over-react towards the end? Nargis doesn't deliver. Shayan Munshi shows a marked improvement over his previous work. Avika Gor gets no scope.

On the whole, Morning Walk is a dull and dreary experience.

Kareena plans to give a big surprise

Kareena plans to give a big surprise to her fans on Facebook

Kareena plans to give a big surprise to her fans on FacebookBy Subhash K Jha

Kareena has never been net savvy. But thanks to the clamour for her glamour on social-networking sites she has decided to get on the net. But just for a bit.

This week Kareena plans to give her fans on a hugely popular social-networking website (Facebook) a big surprise.

Kareena plans to get on the networking site for about 30 minutes “to say hello” to her fans.

She may even break her resolve not to become a member of the networking site. And who knows, she may even get over her reservations about starting her own website.

Says Kareena, “I’ve been repeatedly told that I’ve the maximum number of fans and well-wishers on Facebook. I could never find the time to connect with them. More importantly I was too shy. I can’t bring myself to answer over-specific questions on my activities, where I am, what I do, eat, etc.”

It was Saif Ali Khan and director Imtiaz Ali who informed Kareena of the massive fan following she has on Facebook and how imperative it was for her to reach out to those trying to reach out through social networking.

“I now realize it’s a whole large global community out there on the computer. I can’t blog about my life. But I need to understand and connect with the internet community.

In fact, reveals Kareena, “It was Saif who introduced me to the computer. He does practically all his work on the internet. He coaxed me into understanding the basics.

And then I got hooked, though not to social networking because I’m too private a person to share my day-to-day movements and activities even with my closest friends.”

It was Imtiaz Ali who pointed out the importance of reaching out on the social networking site.

“Imtiaz said the number of people on Facebook who put up my pictures and messages about me had to be seen to be believed. I’ll now be going on Facebook in a few days to interact with my friends there.”

Not that Kareena wants to be regular on social networking. “That’s not me. But I respect and love the thousands of people who want to reach out to me through the internet.”

Katrina Kaif badly injured her face

Katrina Kaif

Accidents seem to have become a way of life for Katrina Kaif. First Katrina badly injured her face while shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani at Madh Island recently. A unit hand said, “It was an emotional scene. It so happened that Ranbir was supposed to slap her in the scene and in adherently his hand missed the mark and ended up hurting Katrina. Rajkumar Santoshi was extremely sensitive towards Katrina’s pain. He asked her to take a day off to rest. But the professional that Katrina is, she was back at work the next day. ”

After that, Katrina met with accident yet again and this time it was on the sets of De Dhana Dhan. A source close to the actress revealed, “Katrina was to shoot an underwater sequence for the film. But while doing that she badly injured her leg. It began bleeding profusely.” Everyone was worried but despite the injury Katrina continued to shoot the next day too. “But while shooting Katrina began bleeding profusely once again. She somehow managed to complete the shoot. Katrina did not complain of the pain even once. The entire unit and even Priyan was completely impressed with Katrina’s professionalism.”
